SpongeBob SquarePants is an American animated comedy series created for Nickelodeon and officially premiered on July 17, 1999. Since it began there have been over 200 episodes and it is the highest rated nickelodeon series as well as the most profitable property for Viacom CBS. The series follows the adventures of the title character and his aquatic friends in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom.
